The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is a driving force behind the growth of Illinois' vibrant technology industry.

ITA’s agenda is simple – grow technology companies by fostering deep collaboration among the diverse industry all in support of developing the ecosystem necessary to foster the success of member companies.All the while tirelessly advocating for the industry to raise the awareness of Illinois as a leading technology community. Members of ITA benefit from unlimited access to strategic development programs, services, resources and events that support all members of their team.  ITA leverages peer-to-peer collaboration and one-on-one mentoring with leaders from the technology industry to drive companies forward. In addition, ITA’s education, events, networking, access to facilities at TechNexus and much more are all focused on growing members businesses.

With over 700 member companies, ITA represents organizations from start-up to industry leader across the industry – software, mobile, internet, consulting, online services, electronics, telecommunications, green and across all industries – business, consumer, financial services, travel, manufacturing, healthcare, and so on – that represent Illinois’ diversity of companies “that make the technology, that make businesses run.

What type of organization is ITA?
The Illinois Technology Association (ITA) is a 501(c)6 not-for-profit organization.

How is ITA funded?
ITA is funded by the members of the association and the community. It does not receive funding from the state or federal government for general operations. It does from time-to-time take funding from government in support of specific programs for the community.

Do you have to be a member to participate in ITA events and programs?
ITA welcomes the participation of all members of the community in ITA programs and events but does designate between members and non-members companies. Most events have a non-member price to participate if a company chooses not to become a member of ITA. In other programs, such as ITA’s monthly roundtables, individuals are encouraged to “try before they buy” and can attend up to 3 months of roundtables before we request that they become members of ITA.  As ITA is primarily funded by the dues and sponsorship of ITA member companies, membership is important to the development and longevity of the association. ITA works diligently to provide value to those companies that desire to participate.

What is the governance for ITA?
ITA is actively overseen by an experienced Board of Directors, representing successful start-up businesses, academia, and large multinational companies. The expertise of the Board of Directors ensures the association creates a definitive offering of collaboration, leadership, and support to the growing start-up and medium sized business community in Illinois. The ITA is grateful to this committed group of professionals who offer their leadership actively to member companies as well as the staff of the ITA.

Where is ITA located?
ITA is located in TechNexus, a clubhouse, conference center and incubator, developed by the ITA in partnership with several local entrepreneurs. The facility is located in the Chicago loop at 200 S. Wacker Drive, 15th Floor. More information on the facility is available at www.technexus.org.

What is the cost of membership?
ITA annual membership rates vary depending on the size and type of the company. Membership is corporate or company based.

What does ITA do to ensure the success of the future of the Illinois technology industry?
ITA's philanthropic arm, the Illinois Technology Foundation, is earnestly involved in the Chicago Academy for Advanced Technology (CAAT).  The CAAT is a Chicago high school, run in collaboration with the Center for Polytechnical Education, the City of Chicago, private sector leaders, and entrepreneurs.  ITA mentors students in the program through an established program providing a minimum of monthly meetings and guidance.  The students, who have shown an interest and ability in technology, are supported and encouraged to continue their education in technology, building the future of the technology industry leadership in Illinois.  To find out more about CAAT, visit CAAT.  To find out more about ITF, please visit ITF.
